Kimmswick Apple Butter Festival
Location: Historic Kimmswick; visitor information at 314 Market Street, Kimmswick, MO 63053
Why go now: Kimmswick’s biggest annual celebration fills the historic river town with hundreds of vendors, food stands, live entertainment and traditional apple butter cooked outdoors in copper kettles.
When: Saturday and Sunday, October 24–25, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
This is an all-ages outing, but expect significant crowds. Arrive early and use the designated parking lots. The city typically provides free shuttle buses from the Windsor school campuses; strollers and ADA riders are accommodated. Most parking areas charge a fee, and parking along Highway K is prohibited. Blues vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Location: Enterprise Center, 1401 Clark Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63103
Why go now: The Blues host the reigning Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes in Carolina’s only regular-season visit to St. Louis. The family-friendly 6 p.m. Saturday start is much easier for younger hockey fans than a late weeknight game.
When: Saturday, October 24 at 6 p.m.
Tickets remain available through the official Ticketmaster listing. Weekend games against a championship team can draw strong demand, so I would purchase seats and reserve parking ahead. Pair the game with an early downtown dinner or Union Station visit. Bring child-size hearing protection for sensitive younger fans. Official tickets
Ecktoberfest at Eckert’s Grafton Farm
Location: 20995 Eckert Orchard Road, Grafton, IL 62037
Why go now: This is the final weekend of Ecktoberfest’s scheduled live music, with apple and pumpkin picking, seasonal food, sweet and hard cider, farm animals, pedal tractors, a play fort and family activities. Combine it with a fall drive along the Great River Road.
When: Saturday and Sunday, October 24–25, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Live music runs 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Cape Girardeau Riverfront Fall Festival
Location: Boardman-Hutson Pavilion Lot, corner of Independence and Main Streets, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701
Why go now: This free festival has moved to a larger location beside the Missouri Wall of Fame. The day includes regional artisans, food vendors, a craft beer garden, continuous live music and a children’s zone with games, face painting and Hot Wheels racing.
When: Saturday, October 24, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Admission is free, and the event runs rain or shine.
Cape’s forecast currently calls for a partly sunny afternoon near 76°F, making this the strongest longer day-trip option. Consider staying for dinner downtown or turning it into an easy overnight. Official festival details
